Manufacturing/Packaging Engineer
Reporting to the Head, Engineering and Maintenance, the Manufacturing/Packaging Engineer’s role is to manage assigned Manufacturing projects and provide advanced technical assistance to the Manufacturing and Maintenance groups.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and defines project requirements with management and internal customer groups.
- Develops, designs, budgets and schedules assigned projects.
- Assess, review, and improve existing packaging lines’ design and operations.
- Troubleshoot equipment on the plant floor and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Review packaging materials and artwork to ensure compatibility with packaging equipment.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develops Request for Proposal documents for design and installation of process and packaging equipment.
- Specifies and/or purchases major process and packaging equipment
- Administers and controls all packaging line design, and installations.
- Leads packaging line trials and supports commissioning and qualification activities.
- Ensures that all applicable local, provincial (i.e. OHSA), and federal (i.e. GMP) regulatory requirements are met.
- Provides engineering support to the Manufacturing and Maintenance groups on operational, troubleshooting, and maintenance issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a Professional Engineer’s license.
- Two – five years of automated manufacturing/packaging mechatronics experience, preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing bottle and blister packaging lines.
- Project management experience.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Practical skills and hands-on experience.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC.
